Compassionate Consultations
Many women seeking care for lipoedema have spent years searching for answers, often feeling unheard or misunderstood.
Consultations with Dr Lauren Bracey provide a space where patients are listened to with empathy, and their experiences are taken seriously.
Each consultation focuses on understanding the individual story behind the symptoms, allowing for thoughtful assessment and supportive medical care.
Metabolic Health
Understanding metabolic health is an important part of caring for women living with lipoedema. As part of a comprehensive medical assessment, baseline blood investigations may be recommended to evaluate metabolic function and key inflammatory markers.
Consultations may also include thoughtful discussions around weight management strategies, recognising the complex relationship between metabolic health and lipoedema.
Care Plans
For patients living with lipoedema and other chronic health concerns, structured care planning can provide valuable support. Where appropriate, Dr Lauren Bracey may assist with the development of Chronic Disease Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements, which help coordinate care between medical and allied health providers.
For patients experiencing the emotional impact that can sometimes accompany chronic health conditions, Mental Health Care Plans may also be discussed to support access to appropriate psychological services.
Patients are always welcome to continue working with their regular GP if preferred, and any care planning can be coordinated collaboratively to ensure continuity of care.
Where specialist input is required, Dr Lauren Bracey can provide appropriate medical referrals to support ongoing care. This may include referral to a plastic surgeon should surgical management of lipoedema be considered, or to other medical specialists where further assessment or treatment is indicated.
Referrals are made thoughtfully and in discussion with you, ensuring they are guided toward appropriate expertise based on your individual circumstances and stage of care.

Diagnosis
Lipoedema is primarily a clinical diagnosis, meaning it is based on recognised patterns of presentation rather than a single test. Where appropriate, further investigations may be arranged to help rule out other conditions or identify additional health factors that may influence care.
A clear diagnosis can help provide validation, guide appropriate management strategies and support patients in accessing coordinated care moving forward.
